Restoran Long Leong

Ok, first things first: this is not my favorite restaurant. Not at all. It does have a lot of things going for it though.
Firstly, it's right next to school. It's on the JP Perdana Taman MT Austin road, opposite RHB Bank, in between KTV and District 7 nightclub. It's a convenient location especially since so many of us live in the Setia Indah / MT Austin area.
Secondly, it's a hawker center more than a restaurant. There are usually a few choices.
And the most important plus: it has a few standout items.
As you can see from the photo, it has some solid Chicken Rice. I know my chicken rice, and this is some of the best chicken rice in Malaysia. The oil rice is good, great texture, solid flavor. The chili sauce is right on the money, it's a good mix of flavor and heat. The chicken, both roasted and steamed, is really nice. The steamed chicken is always done just perfectly, and is juicy and dripping with perfectly cooked chicken fat. The roasted chicken has a great flavor and is always roasted very well, never dry or overcooked. They also served it with a great chicken soup, often packed full with salted veggies. It is a touch pricey, running up to 6.50 rm depending on the cut you get.
So that's my daughter's favorite. Mine: the dumplings.
The dumplings at Long Leong are some of the best in the world. The family running the stand is young, so I like that you are supporting a new generation of hawkers. Even though the kids are young, these dumplings positively radiate old school technique and perfection. The filling is handmade, with knife-minced meat and selected veggies like scallions. The wrappings are done classically, and they are always sealed very well which locks in the juicy goodness of the fillings.
They are served six to a set, and come with two sauces. There's a sambal that is homemade and boasts fresh garlic chunks that could kill a vampire at a hundred meters. There's also a vinegar chock full with hand-sliced fresh ginger. The two are equally good, and I have always finished both of them.
They don't speak English, and they served the dumplings on paper plates which have a tendency to blow away in the wind. Otherwise, it's the best dumpling I've had in Johor, and one of the best I've ever had.
Long Leong does have some problems if I'm being honest. The drink crew is very friendly and has great service, but they have a very poor selection. There aren't many drinks here.
Secondly, there are some foods at Long Leong that are actually pretty far below par. The chicken wings are often dried out and are served with a terrible and store-bought chili sauce, and no limes. There is also a Malay Nasi Lemak / Nasi Campur stand that used to be across the street and has moved in, and they have questionable freshness. I've seen them show up with obvious leftovers to start the night.
Overall, it's a great option to have in the neighborhood, especially if you feel like some dumplings at night.

My Favourite Food

Nasi lemak is my favourite food in Malaysia.Nasi lemak is a malay food.It can make by some

rice, cucumber, egg, sambal(malay own chili)and something else.If you are eating a nasi lemak you will feel the sambal is spicy and the rice got a taste.

One nasi lemak is RM3.50 or RM2.00.The smaller one is RM 1.00.That is so cheap.
That’s all.Hope you enjoy.

My favourite food

My favourite food is "nasi lemak".I especially love the nasi lemak at one of the food shop in Taman Austin, Johor Bahru. The fried chicken there are freshly fried and super crispy.Although I lived in Ipoh for a long time, but i've never seen freshly fried chicken like these. The rice is cooked with coconut milk so they smell really good.
